Previous reports claim that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, Xiaomi 12 Ultra and other Xiaomi devices will use this chip. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus to launch in May
A recent exclusive report from Onsitego claims that Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, will be official in early May. This is much earlier than the previous release schedule. According to Onsitego’s report, a number of mobile phone brands such as Lenovo, Motorola, OnePlus, and Xiaomi already have samples of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus flagship processor. These brands are already testing the suitability of this flagship processor.
The industry expects these brands to launch many smartphones using this new flagship processor before the end of the year. Recall that the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses the Samsung 4nm manufacturing process. Due to the low yield rate of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 using Samsung’s 4nm, Qualcomm decided to switch to TSMC. MediaTek Dimensity chips using TSMC’s 4nm process are in large-scale distribution.
Like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus still uses a “1+3+4” three-cluster architecture. This consists of a large-core Cortex X2, a large-core Cortex A710, and a small-core Cortex A510. The CPU frequency is 2.99GHz, and the GPU has a small upgrade.
