Instagram has introduced three new features on its platform- Product Tags, Enhanced Tags, and Ranking for originality. Here is all you need to know.
Instagram is a social media platform that allows the creators on the platform to express themselves with the help of their content. And it is important to get credit for the work one does. Considering the same and understanding the importance of giving credit to the creators for their original content, Instagram has announced some new features. Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, took to his Twitter account to announce that the social media platform is adding new ways to tag and improve ranking.
“New Features- We’ve added new ways to tag and improved ranking: – Product Tags – Enhanced Tags – Ranking for originality, Creators are so important to the future of Instagram, and we want to make sure that they are successful and get all the credit they deserve,” Mosseri tweeted.
The Product Tags feature has been available on Instagram for a while now, and the feature is being rolled out for every user now. With the help of this feature, Instagram users will now have the option to tag a product and attract traffic to the creator of the product.
With the help of the Enhanced Tags, how normal tags appear on a post will get modified. If the Instagram user has designated a category for themselves on their Insta bio, it will appear along with name in the tags.
Speaking further on the ranking change, Mosseri said “If you create something from scratch, you should get more credit than if you are resharing something that you found from someone else. We’re going to do more to try and value original content more, particularly compared to reposted content”.
It can be noted that the product tag feature works only for public accounts. Instagram is also working on ways to tag products in Stories, however, no further update has been made on the same.
